A clear indication of this is that a total of 1,916 runners registered to tackle the 92 kilometres between Berga by and Mora. After a chilly morning, the runners were treated to a magnificent sunrise, rising temperatures, and a tailwind heading towards Mora.

Ultravasan 90 Men
It was a large and highly merited group that set off, with a fast pace from the start. At the highest point, after about 14 minutes of running, a trio had broken ahead: last year’s winner Olle Meijer (Hälle IF), last year’s runner-up Ebrahim Abdulaziz (Norway), and first-time Ultravasan participant Oscar Claesson (IK Hakarpspojkarna). Abdulaziz had to drop back, and at the Smågan checkpoint, Claesson and Meijer held a lead of about half a minute over Abdulaziz and Didrik Hermansen.

On the technical trails heading towards Mångsbodarna, Claesson shifted up a gear and pulled away from Meijer, with the gap continuing to grow over the coming kilometres.

At Mångsbodarna, Claesson’s lead was three minutes; at Risberg six and a half; and at the hill prize in Evertsberg, Claesson had stretched his lead to more than ten and a half minutes. Meijer was second, 20 seconds ahead of Hermansen.

But then the trend reversed. After Claesson had held his lead for nearly 50 km, Meijer and Hermansen began to reel him in. Minute by minute, the gap closed. At Oxberg, Meijer was less than seven minutes back; at Hökberg five and a half; and at Eldris just three and a half minutes. The final kilometres brought high drama.

With 1.2 kilometres left, Meijer caught up, and an exhausted Claesson could not respond.

Meijer thereby ran home his third consecutive victory in Ultravasan 90, in a time of 6.07.23. His winning margin was 56 seconds. Third place went to Polish Florian Pyszel, who finished strong.

“It was an incredibly turbulent race. The first half was miserable. I had stomach problems, plus I sprained my ankle quite badly when I slipped off a walkway and landed awkwardly. At that point there was still a lot of technical trail running left. For a moment I thought it was over, but I kept going, and when I started pushing on the downhills after Evertsberg, my body responded. From there all the way to the finish, I felt amazing,” said Olle Meijer.

He received reports that he was gaining ground minute by minute, but it was only with two and a half kilometres to go, when he saw Claesson’s back, that he began to believe in victory.

“Of course, that gave me huge strength, and it was an incredible feeling to catch up. This is my third win, but it feels like my biggest one. Partly because of the tough field, the way I won, and the fact that this season I’ve had to deal with a lot of illness. I didn’t think it would be enough for a victory,” said Meijer, who finished the race in 6.07.23, more than eight minutes faster than last year.

Oscar Claesson may have been an Ultravasan debutant, but he is anything but a newcomer to trail running and endurance sports. Just over a month ago, he broke Oskar Svärd’s record for the combined time in En Svensk Klassiker. As recently as last weekend, he completed Cykelvasan in 2.57. He has been stacking up victories and podium finishes in trail races across Sweden.

Claesson certainly lit up this year’s Ultravasan 90 with his aggressive running: “Ninety kilometres is long. I felt it last weekend in Cykelvasan, and I felt it today. I tried to pace myself so I’d have some energy left for the finish, but the second half was tough, especially the last stretch. With six kilometres to go, my legs barely moved forward. I got some juice and perked up a little, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. But I did what I could, so I’m satisfied with that,” said Claesson, who also smashed the standing record for Vasaloppstrippeln 90 (Vasaloppet, Cykelvasan 90, and Ultravasan 90).

The new record is 13.01.06 (improving Oscar Olsson’s previous record of 15.13.40): “Beating the record has been a goal this year, and varying my training is something that motivates me a lot. And all the races here really have their own unique charm,” said Claesson.

Ultravasan 90 Women
Dominika Stelmach of Poland has been in contention twice before in Ultravasan 90. Both times (2021 and 2024), she finished second. This year, her strategy was clear: she broke away almost from the first step. Already at the highest point, after just a few kilometres, she led by about a minute and a half over Ida Nilsson (winner in 2017 and 2023, also finished fourth in the Western States 100 in the U.S. less than two months ago.)

Stelmach continued her solo effort in impressive fashion. The gap just kept growing; at Smågan she was three and a half minutes ahead of Nilsson (who later dropped out). On the way to Mångsbodarna, she extended her lead over new second-placed Susanna Sjögren to 8.47. At Risberg it was twelve minutes, at Evertsberg sixteen, and at Oxberg twenty. The gap continued to grow, and at the finish it was just two seconds shy of half an hour. Her winning time was 6.54.59.

“Finally. The goal for today was to run smart, to win, and to finish under seven hours. And I managed all of that. I’m very satisfied with the way I ran the race. And I must thank everyone along the course for their support. I didn’t understand a single word they shouted, but it meant a lot,” smiled Stelmach.

Runner-up Susanna Sjögren of Falun was equally pleased:
“I chose to start fast and wasn’t sure I could hold it together the whole way. Of course it was tough towards the end, but I think I managed to hold it all the way. And it was great that it was enough for second place,” said Sjögren, who with her 7.24.57 was 54 seconds ahead of third-placed Hanna Aho, Navåsen.

Ultravasan 45 Men
When the Ultravasan 45 runners set off from Oxberg, a leading group of nine men quickly formed. One by one they dropped off, and by the checkpoint in Oxberg (after about 15 kilometres), a trio of Linus Rosdahl, Simon Karlsson, and Mikael Ekvall had pulled away from the rest.

Over the next 10 kilometres to Hökberg, Rosdahl and Karlsson created a one-minute gap to Ekvall.

Heading into Eldris, Rosdahl increased the pace and created what turned out to be the decisive gap. But he could never relax. The winning margin for Linus Rosdahl of Hässelby was 18 seconds over second-placed Simon Karlsson, with a new course record of 2.32.22. “I have Simon to thank for running so fast. He pushed me the whole way. I’m really super happy, both with the victory and the course record,” said Rosdahl.

Ultravasan 45 Women
Nineteen-year-old Agnes Josefsson of Vallentuna FK has been stringing together strong performances in recent months. In today’s Ultravasan 45, she continued to impress. She took the lead from almost the very start, and the gap behind her just grew and grew.

“It feels absolutely amazing. I had no expectations before the race, my plan was simply to run at a comfortable pace and try to hold it to the finish. I noticed I was leading early on, but I didn’t know how the others were pacing their race, so I just focused on my own run,” said Josefsson.

It turned out to be a winning strategy. Her 2.53.19 is a new course record. The margin to second-placed Erika Lech of Örebro was 13.20.

Trailvasan 30 Men
Jesper Lundberg of Hunflen has won Ultravasan 45 these past two years. This winter he underwent heel surgery, and it has been a struggle to return to competitive running.
“I’ve been able to run all summer, but only about half as much as I wanted, so it was a gamble whether it would hold,” said Lundberg, who broke away with Simon Andersson.

Lundberg thought he had created the winning gap, but with four kilometres to go Andersson caught up:
“I had no idea how far back he was, and in my head it felt completely safe. So I was really surprised when he suddenly appeared at my side. Luckily, I could respond immediately and open up a gap,” said Lundberg, who won by 12 seconds, in 1.41.18. “If my body works the way I want it to, the plan is to run Ultravasan 90 next year.”

Trailvasan 30 Women
Lovisa Modig of Torsby defended her title in Trailvasan 30. But she was challenged by Barbro Fjällstedt Oljans.
“My plan was just to focus on my own race. It’s been a tricky road here with quite a bit of illness. Earlier this week I thought it was over and that I wouldn’t even make the start, but I figured I could use it as a warm-up session. Though it’s pretty tough for a warm-up,” laughed Modig, continuing:
“I felt much better during the race than I expected. But it wasn’t until six kilometres from the finish that I dared to believe I could win.”

And not only did she win, she also bettered her own course record by three seconds, with a new record time of 1.57.14. The margin to second-placed Barbro Fjällstedt Oljans was three and a half minutes.

RESULTS
Ultravasan 90 Men, 92 km, Sälen–Mora, 2025-08-16
1 Meijer, Olle (SWE) Hälle IF, 6.07.23
2 Claesson, Oscar (SWE) IKHP Huskvarna, 6.08.19
3 Pyszel, Florian (POL) Brooks, 6.14.22
4 Hermansen, Didrik (NOR) Oslo, 6.15.44
5 Davies, Andrew (GBR) New Balance, 6.20.53
6 Buud, Jonas (SWE) IFK Mora, 6.25.46
7 Anfält, Erik (SWE) Örebro AIK, 6.36.46
8 Jarbeck, Martin (SWE) FK Studenterna, 6.54.38
9 Eklund, Daniel (SWE) Stadium, 7.06.48
10 Martinsson, Björn (SWE) Vänersborgs AIK, 7.07.15

Sprint prizes Ultravasan 90 Men 2025
Mångsbodarna: Oscar Claesson, 1.38.34
Hill prize Evertsberg: Oscar Claesson, 3.07.33
Hökberg: Oscar Claesson, 4.46.23

Ultravasan 90 Women, 92 km, Sälen–Mora, 2025-08-16
1 Stelmach, Dominika (POL) Prandeso Sp., 06.54.59
2 Sjögren, Susanna (SWE) Falun, 7.24.57
3 Aho, Hanna (SWE) Navåsens FK, 7.25.51
4 Ericsson, Ellinor (SWE) Umara Sports club, 7.28.28
5 Haas, Hedwig (SWE) Uppsala, 7.56.08
6 Löfgren Miracolo, Sophia (SWE) Yxlan, 8.08.30
7 Sundquist, Moa (SWE) Sportcity Skellefteå, 8.15.05
8 Bygdell, Johanna (SWE) Öbacka LK, 8.22.52
9 Westin, Annika (SWE) Täby IS, 8.24.41
10 Ring, Lisa (SWE) IK Akele, 8.25.38

Sprint prizes Ultravasan 90 Women 2025
Mångsbodarna: Dominika Stelmach, 1.53.15
Hill prize Evertsberg: Dominika Stelmach, 3.38.54
Hökberg: Dominika Stelmach, 5.26.52

Ultravasan 45 Men, 45 km, Oxberg–Mora, 2025-08-16
1 Rosdahl, Linus (SWE) Hässelby SK, 2.32.22
2 Karlsson, Simon (SWE) Örebro, 2.32.40
3 Ekvall, Mikael (SWE) Frändefors, 2.37.58
4 Olsson, Elov (SWE) Gävle, 2.43.34
5 Karlsson, Isac (SWE) Tranemo IF Skidklubb, 2.47.24
6 Lundegård, Andreas (SWE) Stockholm, 2.47.35
7 Johansson, Erik (SWE) Katrineholms SK FK, 2.49.39
8 Joten, Pål Åge (NOR) Åbogen, 2.50.19
9 Nilsson, Marcus (SWE) Lulekamraterna, 2.50.28
10 Ingberg, Andreas (SWE) Örebro AIK, 2.54.13

Ultravasan 45 Women, 45 km, Oxberg–Mora, 2025-08-16
1 Josefsson, Agnes (SWE) Vallentuna FK, 2.53.19
2 Lech, Erica (SWE) Örebro AIK, 3.06.39
3 Erneby, Eva-Maj (SWE) Västerås FK, 3.08.57
4 Ekvall, Sofie (SWE) Vänersborgs AIK, 3.17.28
5 Hellström, Anna (SWE) Sollentuna, 3.18.37
6 Brzuchalska, Weronika (SWE) Hälle IF, 3.25.18
7 Kugelberg, Ebba (SWE) FK Studenterna, 3.25.27
8 Gibrand, Malin (SWE) FK Studenterna, 3.27.08
9 Höckert, Hanna (SWE) Växjö, 3.36.02
10 Wallin, Maria (SWE) Ås, 3.38.44

Trailvasan 30 Men, 30 km, Oxberg–Mora, 2025-08-16
1 Lundberg, Jesper (SWE) Hunflens LS, 1.41.18
2 Andersson, Simon (SWE) Falu Rödfärg Ski Team, 1.41.30
3 Roos, Daniel (SWE) Attunda OK, 1.51.43
4 Andervang, Tobias (SWE) Borås Löparklubb, 1.55.15
5 Persson, Tobias (SWE) JTS Ekonomitjänster, 1.57.21
6 Sunnerberg, Stefan (SWE) Brudpiga RK, 1.58.36
7 Andersson, John (SWE) IK Fryken, 2.02.29
8 Grudd, Christoffer (SWE) IFK Mora SK, 2.03.48
9 Vikström, Jonas (SWE) IFK Mora, 2.03.54
10 Nordgren, Marcus (SWE) Elsene, 2.07.23

Trailvasan 30 Women, 30 km, Oxberg–Mora, 2025-08-16
1 Modig, Lovisa (SWE) Torsby, 1.57.14
2 Fjällstedt Oljans, Barbro (SWE) Säter IF FIK, 2.00.45
3 Skarp, Cornelia (SWE) IFK Mora Friidrott, 2.04.01
4 Rønnevik, Veslemøy (NOR) Sportsklubben Vidar, 2.08.23
5 Rosdal, Kajsa (SWE) Tisdagsklubben Örebro, 2.13.46
6 Jansson, Sandra (SWE) Karlstad, 2.14.03
7 Turesson, Minna (SWE) OK Renen 2.16.56
8 Tryggveson, Ida (SWE) Uppsala, 2.19.00
9 Fallberg, Elin (SWE) Mora, 2.19.36
10 Forsberg, Malin (SWE) Mora, 2.19.58

Results and start lists >

The 101st Kranskulla and 37th Kransmas
This year’s Kranskulla is cross-country skier Maja Heikki from Sälens IF and Kransmas is football player Arvid Jerkgård from IFK Mora.

Medal times in Ultravasan 90
All participants who finish Ultravasan 90, Ultravasan 45, Trailvasan 30, Trailvasan 10 and Vasastafetten receive a medal.
