In the case of Vasaloppet it would be more accurate to say that it was written by those who followed. All the participants who, sweaty and exhausted, completed different distances between S\u00e4len and Mora, and inspired millions of TV viewers and casual exercises to get out on the nearest trail with the hope of one day skiing, cycling or running in forefathers\u2019 tracks for future victories. In 2022 the Vasaloppet movement turned one hundred years old.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Vasaloppet 100 \u00e5r \u2013 Var med och s\u00e4tt Sverige i r\u00f6relse!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ta07TJHuUfQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>\u201cWhy shouldn\u2019t we take up Mora\u2013S\u00e4len as a national ski race, right now, as we are about to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Gustaf Eriksson\u2019s liberation of Sweden?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s editor-in-chief Anders Pers who brings this up in the Vestmanlands L\u00e4ns Tidning newspaper on February 10, 1922. The invitation is sent out on March 7, the first skier is registered by March 10 and the first Vasaloppet is held on March 19. Anders Pers then made a speech for participants and spectators gathered by the Gustav Vasa statue in Mora on the evening after the race:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>\u201cPeople gather into communities and live with increased comforts, which puts the community\u2019s resilience and strength into danger\u2026 This danger could lead to a weakening and degeneration, and it\u2019s evoked a cry for sports to act as a conscious effort to maintain and increase the community\u2019s strength and resilience.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">The vision was already set. Vasaloppet is for a healthier Sweden.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">During the hundred years that follow, Vasaloppet evolves from being just a competition race on the first Sunday in March to an engine for public health and sporting activities. A living movement, and something to celebrate. And we did!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">We started with a tour to get Sweden moving in the autumn of 2021, continued by recreating the first historic Vasaloppet with Jubileumsvasan on February 12, and headed straight into a ten-day celebration with Vasaloppet\u2019s Winter Week 2022. When the summer came we focused on mtb and running with the Vasaloppet\u2019s Summer Week which returned again.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"\">Now we take aim at the next 100 years \u2013 for future victories.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They say that history is written by the winners.
