Getting to Sälen and Mora

Vasaloppet events lead to a lot of traffic on the roads around Mora and Sälen. By train, bus or plane you can get all the way, no matter where your journey starts.

Train and bus

Direct buses and trains run every day from Stockholm to Mora, and buses run from Malmö via Göteborg to Sälen.

Many sports clubs hire private buses or travel together with other clubs. Check with your local sports club!

Car

Most choose to travel by car which often leads to a highly strained traffic situation. If you choose car it is important to be out in good time. A good rule of thumb is to add at least an hour to your travel time. Keep in mind that a day in the tracks can be exhausting, and it is important to get a good amount of sleep before heading back home.

There are flights to Sälen’s airport, Scandinavian Mountains Airport.

The Vasaloppet buses

Once you’re on location, you can easily travel between Sälen and Mora with our Vasaloppet buses, regardless of which race you’re participating in.

Parking

During Vasaloppet’s Winter Week, there are car parks at the start locations, near the finish in Mora, and at certain checkpoints along the Vasaloppet Arena. Some of the car parks have fees. The fee is 40 SEK, paid via Swish.

Start Area Sälen
Parking is available in several places; follow the signs and the parking attendants’ directions and you will find a suitable parking space.

Start Area Oxberg
Parking is available in several places; follow the signs and the parking attendants’ directions and you will find a suitable parking space.

Checkpoint Smågan
There is no parking available. Spectators cannot visit this checkpoint.

Checkpoints at Mångsbodarna, Risberg, Evertsberg, Oxberg and Hökberg

Limited parking; follow the signs and the parking attendants’ directions and you will find a suitable parking space.

During Stafettvasan on Friday, February 28, there will be no parking facilities at the checkpoint in Hökberg. Everyone must take the bus to the Hökberg exchange.

Checkpoint Eldris
There is no parking available. Spectators cannot visit this checkpoints.

Central Mora
In and around Mora there is plenty of parking available. Follow the signs and directions.

 


Follow participants as spectators

Many relatives and friends want to follow participants along the track. There is often a lot of traffic on the roads during our races so remember to be out in good time. A good rule of thumb is to add an hour to your travel plan. Consider carpooling!

Between Sälen and Mora, there are seven official Vasaloppet checkpoints. Pay attention to the signs at the checkpoints and follow instructions from our parking attendants.

Öppet Spår Sunday, Öppet Spår Monday 90, Nattvasan 90, Vasaloppet
The recommended stops along the track are Mångsbodarna, Evertsberg and Oxberg.

Stafettvasan
The recommended stops along the track are Risberg and Evertsberg.

Vasaloppet 30, Tjejvasan, Öppet Spår måndag 30, Öppet Spår måndag 45, Vasaloppet 45, Nattvasan 30 and Nattvasan 45
The recommended stop is the Hökberg checkpoint, it could be difficult to reach the finish line in time, as traffic might be slow in central Mora. From Hökberg you go to the finish line in Mora.

 


Night parking for caravan and camper

Sälen – The Vasaloppet start in Berga by

Campers and caravans are permitted to park at the car park by the Vasaloppet start. It is forbidden to park a caravan or camper anywhere except where the signs indicate, so make sure to follow the signs – other night parking within the competition area of the Vasaloppet start in Sälen is forbidden.

During winter events there are three caravan and camper spaces available near the start in Sälen.

Sälen – Tjänhedens IP

At Tjänhedens IP, approximately 600 metres north of the Vasaloppet start, Sälens IF is offering spaces for caravans and campers, with no access to electricity. There is access to showers and toilets. It is not possible to empty latrine or greywater.

The cost is 250 SEK per night, and is paid directly on arrival via Swish 123 322 05 06. The money goes to Sälens IF’s children and youth activities. Enter message: Ställplats + vehicle registration number. Swish payments are checked on an ongoing basis.

Oxberg – Start area in Oxberg

Campers and caravans are permitted to park at the car park by the Oxberg start. It is forbidden to park a caravan or camper anywhere except where the signs indicate, so make sure to follow the signs. At this car park there is no access to electricity or water.

Mora – Vasaliden

Campers and caravans are permitted to park at the car park at Vasaliden. It is forbidden to park a caravan or camper anywhere except where the signs indicate, so make sure to follow the signs. At this car park there is no access to electricity or water. You can then walk to the finish area and trade fair in Mora; there is a marked walkway, approximately 1,300 metres long.
