Cycle Vasaloppet, but without competing! Do you want to bike the entire Vasaloppet but without the hassle of crowds and record hunters? Cykelvasan Öppet Spår is the same as Cykelvasan 90 but without pronounced competitive aspects. The start is in Sälen and you’ll bike across about 89 km of forest road or gravel and 7 km of asphalt before reaching the Mora finish line.
The race is a real challenge, so come well prepared, stop at the checkpoints, and remember that you are only competing against yourself.
The race is sanctioned by Svenska Cykelförbundet (SCF, the Swedish Cycling Federation), and run in accordance with SCF’s regulations. Read the rules in their entirety at SCF’s website.
Approved bike helmet is mandatory. We recommend mountain bikes with heavy duty tires. Swedish traffic regulations apply whenever there is other traffic.
Due to the risk of injury we do not allow cycling with:
- earphones, for example with music
- bottles that are not suited for the bottle holder
- tow bike, electric bike, unicycle, child seat or bike trailer.
Tandem bikes and bike with drop handlebars are allowed.
You may participate in the race from the year you turn 12.
Time penalty for littering in the Vasaloppet Arena
It is allowed to throw garbage in three different ways during Vasaloppet’s Summer Week. If you will be caught by throwing debris otherwise you may be penalized with a time penalty of 15 minutes.
You must throw litter:
- in the bins at the Vasaloppet checkpoints.
- in the marked littering zones between each Vasaloppet checkpoint.
- where you as a participant know that a team leader or associate will pick up what you throw.
Vasaloppstrippeln – three Vasaloppet in one year
Vasaloppstrippeln, the Vasaloppet trifecta, is a challenge where participants complete three 90-kilometre Vasaloppet races during one calendar year.
