Rising stars take on world champions in Cykelvasasprinten 2026

For the first time, the action-packed Cykelvasasprinten will be held by the Svansjön lake in Lindvallen, right next to the Bike Expo during the Vasaloppet Bike Festival. The competition uses a sprint format, with four cyclists competing head-to-head in each heat.

“The new course, of about 900 metres, is both tighter and faster than in previous years. It’s also designed so spectators can follow the cyclists around the entire course, giving them a much closer view of the action,” says Daniel Mäkinen, Events Director at Vasaloppet.

Prolific cyclist and TV commentator Roberto Vacchi will guide spectators through the event, from the pre-race build-up to the decisive finals. Among the 16 invited cyclists are Sweden’s Edvin Lindh, 2025 XCE World Champion, and Germany’s Simon Gegenheimer, multiple XCE World Champion and World Cup winner, who will face off against, among others, freeride mountain bike star Martin Söderström and rising Swedish talent Anton Unger.

Also competing is one of the world’s most accomplished female XCE cyclists, Germany’s Marion Fromberger, whose achievements include World Championship and World Cup medals. She will face strong competition from Dutch cyclist Elodie Kuijper, who has several impressive World Cup results, as well as promising young Swedish cyclists Saga Elf Boberg and Elin Karlsson.

“This year’s Cykelvasasprinten line-up is one of the strongest we’ve ever had. Combined with the new course, where spectators can follow the race from start to finish, it sets the stage for a truly action-packed cycling festival and the perfect warm-up for the Cykelvasan weekend,” says Daniel Mäkinen.
