    Sébastien Spehler and Alexandra Morozova won Ultravasan 90 Elit 2021

    Finally, this past weekend, ultrarunning competitions returned to the Vasaloppet Arena after a year break. The winners of Ultravasan 90 Elit were Sébastien Spehler from France in the men's class and Alexandra Morozova from Russia for the women. The Russian runner thereby became the first person in Ultravasan history to win the race three times. In Ultravasan 45 Elit there were two Swedish winners; Kristofer Låås and Liselotte Hellsten. Registration for Vasaloppet's Summer Week 2022 opens on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

    Swedish and international elite runners settle the score in Ultravasan on Sunday – follow along at Vasaloppet.TV

    Nine former victors and a number of other noteworthy runners are registered for Ultravasan 90 Elit and Ultravasan 45 Elit which run on Sunday, August 22 in the Vasaloppet Arena. Will David Laney be the second American to win Ultravasan and will Russian Alexandra Morozova snatch her third victory in a row? Vasaloppet.TV will broadcast both races from start to finish and the stream is concluded with Hemmavasan's big raffle of a Volvo XC40 Recharge Twin, an electric SUV.

    Follow Cykelvasan 90 Elit via live broadcast on Thursday – with seven former victors on the starting line

    Cykelvasan 90 Elit runs on Thursday, August 19. Ladies start at 16:15 and gents at 17:00 and this 13th edition of Cykelvasan between Sälen and Mora will be broadcast live on Vasaloppet's streaming service Vasaloppet.TV. On the starting field we find seven cyclists who have won a combined eleven Cykelvasan victories. Among them are reigning champions Emil Lindgren from Sweden and Elisabeth Sveum from Norway who both won in 2019. Those not competing in elite competitions have until Sunday, August 22 to complete their race in Hemmavasan Cykel.

    Vasaloppet one of 15 Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XII events

    The 12th edition of Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour consists of 15 events on 12 events weekends in 8 different countries. It has 3 new destinations 2021/2022: Orsa Grönklitt, Misurina and Tartu and one new competition format, The Individual Tempo. Season XII starts off with a Prologue weekend in Orsa Grönklitt, Sweden, on December 18th and ends in Northern Finland with the 70-km final Ylläs-Levi on April 9th. In total the tour covers a distance of 810 race km.

    Over 500 have applied to start in Jubileumsvasan – the challenge of the century

    The application period is now over for the historic ski race Jubileumsvasan, which will recreate the very first Vasaloppet in 1922. A total of 532 applications have been received. The jury's work is now underway to select the 139 participants who will get a chance to start the race in Sälen on February 12, 2022, and travel ninety kilometres to Mora on primitive wooden skis. Foreign media have shown interest in Jubileumsvasan.

    Once again, the pandemic prevents the regular Vasaloppet Summer Week from going ahead, but participants can still reach their cycling or running finish line – in Hemmavasan. Last year's success is back, now upgraded with great prizes, including an electric car from Volvo. "We know that many have trained extra hard this past year, so it feels good to be able to offer a safe and flexible solution. At the same time, we are happy that elite participants this year can compete in Cykelvasan 90, Ultravasan 90 and Ultravasan 45 on location in the Vasaloppet Arena," says Johan Eriksson, Vasaloppet's CEO.
