    Do you have what it took in 1922? Vasaloppet recreates the first historic Vasaloppet

    Wooden skis with toe straps, wool trousers, tarred skis and snow packed on forest roads and paths. Vasaloppet celebrates 100 years in 2022 and what better way to commemorate than to ski as they did in 1922? A ninety km historic Vasaloppet will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 – "Jubileumsvasan" – with the goal of replicating the first race as close as is possible. Registration for the challenge of the century opens on Wednesday, May 12, and a jury will select 139 skiers who get the chance to participate in Jubileumsvasan.

    Vasaloppet's Summer Week 2021

    The goal is to be able to hold Vasaloppet's Summer Week 2021 with twelve bike and running races in the Vasaloppet Arena on August 13–21. "Right now we're reviewing what conditions there will be and we're ready to make adjustments as needed to be able to welcome participants to the Vasaloppet Summer Week on location," says Johan Eriksson, CEO of Vasaloppet.

    Vasaloppet in summary and looking ahead – registration for 2022 opens on Sunday

    It was a different Vasaloppet winter 2021, but we got it done. Due to the pandemic, Tjejvasan and Vasaloppet were the only races completed and only elite skiers could participate. But thanks to an open Vasaloppet Arena, all the recreational skiers could cross the finish line of their training too, during three and a half weeks in Vasaåket. There were many days of sunshine and blue skies, for example during Vasaloppet where a powerful tailwind contributed to strong record times.     Vasaloppet 100 years – welcome to the big ski fest of 2022!

    Over 1.6 million participants have passed under the classic finish line portal in Mora since the first Vasaloppet on March 19, 1922. A birthday celebration beyond the usual is planned for the 100th anniversary and with our sights set on Vasaloppet's upcoming 100th year we now present some long-awaited news – skate style will be allowed in Öppet Spår Monday.

    Tord Asle Gjerdalen and Lina Korsgren won Vasaloppet 2021

    Norway then Sweden among the men, Sweden then Norway among the women. Tord Asle Gjerdalen won ahead of Anton Karlsson, taking his first Vasaloppet win at a record time – 50 years to the day after Norway's very first win in Vasaloppet. The women got a new record time too with Lina Korsgren snatching her third win with Marit Björgen in second place.
