    This Sunday morning, March 7, 2021, millions of TV viewers will sit down at home, as always, to follow the start of the 97th Vasaloppet in Sälen. This year has a different start location, a new finish and separate start times for men and women for the first time ever. Here are the conditions for this year's edition of the world's most prestigious cross-country ski race – sometimes referred to as the long distance world championship.

    Ski Vasaåket Hemma (Home Edition) 2021 wherever you are in the world!

    If you cannot travel to Sweden this winter you can choose to complete Vasaåket any time and anywhere during the period of February 12 – March 7, 2021. Select Vasaåket Hemma (Home Edition) in your booking. There are four different distances to choose between and you use the official Vasaloppet app.

    The single highest prize money check ever in the sport of cross country skiing!

    The first Grand Classics event Marcialonga in Italy takes place Sunday January 31st. The prize money pot for completing a Grand Slam is now revealed awarding the achievement with 100,000 EUR. Noone so far in history has been able to complete a Grand Slam, which is done by winning the four Grand Classics events in Visma Ski Classics the same season. Will we see the first one this year?

    Adjustments and precautions in the Vasaloppet Arena

    This past autumn Vasaloppet has, in close consultation with the authorities, planned for a different Vasaloppet winter. In the altered programme – where Tjejvasan and Vasaloppet run as elite competitions while others are welcomed to Vasaåket which can be completed on a day of choice during a three-week period – there are a great number of adjustments and precautions in and around the Vasaloppet Arena. All to ensure that everyone can have a wonderful and safe skiing experience during Vasaåket

    Women get their own start time in Vasaloppet Elit 2021

    Today there are 48 days remaining until Vasaloppet on March 7, 2021, which will run solely as an elite competition for men and women in the 90-kilometre Vasaloppet Arena. To spread out participants further, the women's class will start at 07:40, twenty minutes before the men's start at 08:00. There will be no spectators on location but Sveriges Television will, as well as many other broadcasters of course, broadcast the 97th Vasaloppet, which already has some impressive registered participants.

    Visma Ski Classics launch plan B, and Vasaloppet on March 7th for elite skiers

    With increasing cases of Covid-19 infections in Italy and most European countries during the last couple of weeks, Visma Ski Classics has decided to postpone the start of Season XI. The start is now planned to mid-January with the expectation that the situation will improve by the end of the year. To strengthen the later part of the season, a new event has been added: Årefjällsloppet 100 km on March 27th! Vasaloppet will publish more information in English on Monday November 9th.

    New race – Trailvasan 10 premieres in August 2021

    An evening race, starting and finishing in Mora, open to all who'd like to try running in forefathers' tracks. With lots of paths, technical terrain and hills at sunset. That's the concept of Trailvasan 10, Vasaloppet's newest race. "With Trailvasan 10 we're giving even more people the chance to cross the finish line in Mora," says Tommy Höglund, Vasaloppet's Sport Manager.
