This Saturday morning Jennie Stenerhag, Falu CK, and Lucas Eriksson, Team Serneke Allebike CK, won the mountain bike race Cykelvasan.
The first Cykelvasan ran in 2009 and attracted almost 2,000 registered participants. Now that it's time for the eighth edition of Cykelvasan, on August 12–13, there are, so far, more than 22,000 registrants – a new record! Here we have collected facts, statistics and information about Cykelvasan, which is now the biggest Nordic mountain bike race.
Cykelvasan and Ultravasan run through a nature reserve. This means that all littering is forbidden. Everything you bring onto the track should come with you to the next checkpoint or the finish line, where there are waste bins.
The Summer Week 2016 will be larger than ever, and there are still spots open for those who want to bike or run in one of our races. You can register for Cykelvasan 30, Cykelvasan 45 and Cykelvasan Öppet Spår at vasaloppet.se up until Wednesday August 10 at midnight. After that it will be possible to register directly on location up until the start of the race. Online registration for Ultravasan 45, Ultravasan 90 and Vasastafetten will close on Thursday August 18 at midnight. NOTE! Start certificates will be emailed out on Friday August 5 to those who are already registered.
The Vasaloppet organization is, of course, working each year to develop and improve the Vasaloppet Arena. This summer we can therefore present some route changes in the cycling and running races. Here you can read more on these changes.
We recommend that all participants take the bus to the start location. Buy your ticket to Vasaloppet's official bus transports through vasaloppet.se. By taking the bus you can be sure to arrive at the start on time.
Ultravasan will run for the third time on Saturday August 20, 2016. As in the first two successful years there will be many elite world-class runners making their way to Dalarna. Swedish 100 km world champion Jonas Buud, who won the men's competition in Ultravasan 90 in both 2014 and 2015, will return to show his mettle once more. The ladies side looks highly interesting, the biggest star being world champion Ellie Greenwood from the UK.
When Vasaloppet opened registration for eight of the ten ski races in Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2017 this Sunday morning, two of the races were fully booked immediately. The new couples race Nattvasan was fully booked in 1.5 minutes while Vasaloppet was full after 4 minutes. Over 33,000 participants had registered for the Winter Week 2017 after one hour.
Registration for the 2017 Winter Week opens on March 20 at 09:00. Here is some extra information for those interested in Stafettvasan, since things will work differently next year.
For the seventh year in a row, more than fifty thousand participants managed to complete their Winter Week races, and this year the total was 55,435 (including all Stafettvasan sections). Only 2,128 participants broke off their races, which is about half as many as last year. There were a total of 68,024 registered participants.
