Vasaloppet's competition management has appointed Hanna Eriksson from IFK Mora to be the 92nd Kranskulla in history, and management for Tjejvasan has appointed Johan Wellert from Sälens IF to be the 28th Kransmas. These two have been given what is often called the most prestigious assignment among the thousands of functionaries who make Vasaloppet's events possible.
Last year, Vasaloppet instituted a new tradition where Swedish artists are invited to compete to create the annual Vasaloppet motifs. During this Thursday's press preview at the Zorn Museum in Mora, Lisbeth Boholm's two winning artworks were unveiled as the official theme motifs for Vasaloppet's winter and summer events in 2016.
The long distance cross country ski championship Ski Classics has signed up Visma as the new titel parter in front of the 2015/2016 season, and becomes Visma Ski Classics. Visma Ski Classics include Vasaloppet, Birkebeinerrennet, Marcialonga, and seven more prestigious and traditional races spread across Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden and Norway.
The board members of Vasaloppsföreningen Sälen-Mora and Vasaloppets Marknads AB have appointed Eva-Lena Frick, 54 and currently CEO of Vätternrundan, as the new CEO of Vasaloppet.
Registration for summer races 2016 opens on September 20 at 09:00 on Vasaloppet's website. Due to the great interest in Cykelvasan 90, a loyalty program is now introduced to safeguard returning participants. These participants now have their own quota of start positions and are guaranteed a place in next year's race.
Vasaloppet has signed a new contract with Volvo Car Sweden who, from September 1 and on, are a new main sponsor and official vehicle supplier for Vasaloppet. The partnership covers all Vasaloppet activities year round, including both winter and summer events.

Swedish ultrarunning star Jonas Buud from IFK Mora today won his second Ultravasan 90 victory, running Sälen to Mora with a record time of 5.45.08. The ladies' class was won by Jasmin Nunige from Switzerland with a time of 7.02.35, also a new track record.
