    The Tjejvasan start will take place on Saturday, February 24, at 09:00, setting off the world's largest ski race exclusively for women, covering 30 km from Oxberg to Mora. This year's race, the 36th Tjejvasan, has attracted 6,400 registered participants so far. Tjejvasan is now classified as a Challenger race within Ski Classics and it has a competition class for both seniors (D21) and juniors (D17–20). Starting from this year, you can participate in Tjejvasan's recreational class from the year you turn 11 (born in 2013). Sveriges Television will broadcast Tjejvasan live, and for those eager to ski thirty delightful kilometres, it's just a matter of signing up, which you can do until the day of the race.     Counties and nations – statistics ahead of Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2024

    At 09:00 on Friday, February 23, the first participants will set off on the trail in Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2024. The first race is Vasaloppet 30, which is 30 km long, and it's followed by 12 other races with distances ranging from 9 to 90 kilometres before the 100th Vasaloppet in history takes place on "Vasaloppet Sunday," March 3. Currently, over 57,800 participants are registered – from 67 different nations.

    Who will win Vasaloppet and Tjejvasan 2024?

    The Ski Classics season has reached its "midpoint." The eighth race, Jizerská50 in the Czech Republic, scheduled for Sunday, February 11, has been cancelled. This means that Ski Classics' next two races will take place in Grönklitt, followed by the Ski Classics Challenger race Tjejvasan on February 24.     Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2024 approaching 60,000 registered participants – several races are filling up

    With three weeks left until the first race in this winter's big event, Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2024, there is significant interest in registering for the 14 races. Öppet Spår Sunday will soon reach its limit with 10,000 registered participants, and the 100th Vasaloppet has been fully booked for a long time. "It feels fantastic that the races are starting to fill up, and we look forward to welcoming 60,000 participants to a joyful celebration in the Vasaloppet Arena," says Johan Eriksson, CEO of Vasaloppet.

    How participants' skis are tested for fluorine wax during Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2024

    There is now a complete ban on fluorinated waxes in ski races sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and the Swedish Ski Federation. The rule applies to all 14 races during the Vasaloppet Winter Week 2024, both for elite skiers and recreational participants. "We will conduct random checks at the start and finish and offer the opportunity to test skis before the races. Our goal is to help everyone ski without fluorine in the Vasaloppet Arena," says Tommy Höglund, Sport Manager at Vasaloppet.

    The work for more women on the track continues

    Last year, Vasaloppet initiated the project "More women on the track" to increase gender equal participation. Things are trending positively, as can be seen in the summary of figures from the 2023 ski, cycling and running races. Compared to 2022, the proportion of participating women has increased by approximately two percentage points, and in Vasaloppet 2024, the 100th edition, there will be more women than ever before.
