528 participants completed Vasaloppstrippeln 2020
Looking back at the unusual Vasaloppet year of 2020, Vasaloppet can happily announce that 528 participants completed their Vasaloppstrippeln after cycling and running races in Hemmavasan. In addition, several participants have chosen to save their ski race from this past winter and instead complete Vasaloppstrippeln in combination with Vasaloppet's Summer Week on August 13–21, 2021. But who managed the achievement this year? All the names are now available, along with home regions and results.
Vasaloppstrippeln was possible for the first time in 2014. These past six years, the concept has become increasingly established and well-known in exercise Sweden. ”Completing a race of 90, 45 or 30 kilometres is an achievement. How about three races in the same calendar year?!” as the challenge goes. In order to complete Vasaloppstrippeln you need to ski, bike and run Vasaloppet 90, 45 or 30 km.
Vasaloppet can happily state that in 2020, 141 participants completed Vasaloppstrippeln 90, while 146 participants completed Vasaloppstrippeln 45 and 241 participants completed Vasaloppstrippeln 30; the last of which premiered this year. In total there were 199 men and 329 women. For obvious reasons, record times could not be recorded this year.
”We’re so glad that we could offer Vasaloppstrippeln with three different distances this year, and that participants could finish in Hemmavasan when the Summer Week could not be held on location. Aiming for Vasaloppstrippeln gives you a clear and long-term goal for your training and it’s extremely fun that so many people are embracing it. This year we can also note that the majority of people who have completed Vasaloppstrippeln 45 and Vasaloppstrippeln 30 are women, which is fantastic,” says Vasaloppet’s Sports Manager Tommy Höglund.
