Ahead of Ultravasan, Trailvasan, Funkisvasan and Vasastafetten 2026 – record number of runners registered

Regular registration remains open at vasaloppet.se through Thursday, August 13. Direct registration (at a slightly higher fee) is available from Friday, August 14 at vasaloppet.se, or from 10:00 at the race office in Mora and 13:00 at the race office in Sälen. Direct registration is available on race day at the start area.

Friday, August 14
The weekend kicks off early on Friday afternoon at 14:00 with Funkisvasan, starting and finishing at the Vasaloppet finish area in Mora. The race is for people with some form of disability, and more than 120 participants are registered, which is a new record! New for this year, participants can choose between two distances: 2 and 4 km.

At 18:00, it is time for Trailvasan 10, a 10 km recreational race starting and finishing at the Vasaloppet finish area.

In addition to the races above, Barnens Vasalopp Löpning will be held in Mora (16:15) and Sälen (18:00) for the youngest participants, up to approximately 10 years of age. A fun and challenging course where children can experience both exercise and joy.

Saturday, August 15
On Saturday, Ultravasan 90, Ultravasan 45, Trailvasan 30 and Vasastafetten will follow. There are seven classes in total (six of which are competition classes), as well as, for the first time, Swedish Championship classes for seniors and veterans, women and men, in Ultravasan 90.

– Ultravasan 90. 92 km. Start in Sälen at 05:00.
Ultravasan 90 starts in Sälen, like the traditional Vasaloppet, and follows the course eastwards towards Mora. Two classes: Women and Men. This year, the race also serves as the trail running Swedish Championships and Swedish Veteran Championships. A record number of participants, more than 2,300, are registered to run the entire classic Vasaloppet course.

– Ultravasan 45. 45 km. Start in Oxberg at 10:00 (new start time).
Ultravasan 45 starts in Oxberg and largely follows the winter course for Vasaloppet 45 along the Oxbergssjön lake to Vasslan, before joining the Ultravasan 90 course. Two classes: Women and Men.

– Trailvasan 30. 30 km. Start in Oxberg at 11:30.
Trailvasan 30 starts in Oxberg and follows forest roads and trails, through traditional summer farms and spruce forests, via the checkpoints in Oxberg, Hökberg and Eldris to Mora. Two classes: Women and Men.

– Vasastafetten. Running relay for teams of ten. Start in Sälen at 08:00.
92 km from Sälen to Mora divided into ten sections ranging from 4.5–15 km. Since 2025, the race has been a recreational relay – just like Stafettvasan is in winter. (Participants are allowed to run more than one section each, but the team must consist of at least two people.)

This year’s course
After several years of a temporary route through the ski trail above Björnarvet between Evertsberg and Oxberg (due to roadworks), Ultravasan 90, Vasastafetten and Ultravasan 45 will now return to the regular running route along the Vasaloppet trail. Participants will once again run through the scenic surroundings at Axikvarn and continue along the trail towards Björnarvet.

Several measures have been implemented in Ultravasan 90 to create a better flow for runners. In addition, a new structure has been introduced in the starting area, with five different entry zones based on participants’ ambitions and estimated finish times.

Ultra is the term used for races longer than the marathon distance of 42,195 metres, while “trail” or “terrain” means that the majority of the race takes place on surfaces other than asphalt.

Breakfast Run – warm-up for Ultravasan and Trailvasan 2026
On Friday, August 14, from 08:00 to 10:30, Vasaloppet invites you to a communal Breakfast Run in the Vasaloppet Arena . This guided group run covers 5 kilometres along the Vasaloppet Arena, with both elite and recreational runners participating. After the run, a simple breakfast will be served in Tingshuparken in Mora. The event is open to all who want to join.



Interviews with runners and notable figures will start around 09:00. The media are very welcome to attend, photograph, and interview participants!

Victory prizes

The winners of Ultravasan 90 receives a laurel wreath, Vasaloppet’s new victory trophy, a Dala horse, a gold medal, and 60,000 SEK. The winners of Ultravasan 45 will receive 15,000 SEK, and the winners of Trailvasan 30 will receive 10,000 SEK. Ultravasan 90 also has sprint prizes in Mångsbodarna (5,000 SEK) and Hökberg (5,000 SEK), as well as a Hill Prize in Evertsberg (10,000 SEK). The total prize pool for the runners on Saturday is 371,000 SEK.

Cut-off and medal times in Ultravasan 90

Cut-off times: Oxberg at 15:50, Hökberg at 17:20, and Eldris at 19:00. The finish line closes at around 20:30.



All participants who finish Ultravasan 90, Ultravasan 45, Trailvasan 30, Trailvasan 10, Funkisvasan and Vasastafetten receive a medal. A special achievement medal in Ultravasan 90 is awarded to those who finish within set medal times. Medal times are: Men under 10 hours (9:59:59). Women under 11:36 (11:35:59).

All ultra races
Ten people (eight men and two women) have run Ultravasan 90 every year since the start in 2014! One person (a woman) has run Ultravasan 45 every year since 2014.

Vasastafetten no. 34
The Vasastafetten relay has been held since 1991, arranged by Vasaloppet since 2008. From 2025 onwards, Vasastafetten is a recreational race, just like Stafettvasan in winter.

Over 600 are attempting Vasaloppstrippeln 2026
Since 2014 it’s been possible to complete Vasaloppstrippeln. This year, 2026, many people have completed 90, 45 or 30 kilometres of both skiing and cycling. For this Saturday’s running section, 357 of these are registered for Ultravasan 90 so far, 177 for Ultravasan 45 and 99 for Trailvasan 30. Those running for Vasaloppstrippeln will wear a marking on their number bib on Saturday.
