News for Vasaloppet's Summer Week 2023

”We’re always developing and we are now rearranging the programme to offer our participants an even better experience,” says Tommy Höglund, Sport Manager at Vasaloppet.

Vasaloppet’s Summer Week starts off with Cykelvasan and since 2018 the five different bike races have been spread out over three days; Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After evaluating this year’s events, it’s now settled that Cykelvasan 30, Cykelvasan 45 and Ungdomscykelvasan will be held on Friday, August 11, the same day as Cykelvasan Öppet Spår and the day before Cykelvasan 90.

”Our family races, Cykelvasan 30 and Cykelvasan 45, will run on Friday afternoon, which we believe will raise the party atmosphere even further for all participants,” says Tommy Höglund.

The weekend after Cykelvasan, runners will take on the Vasaloppet Arena: Trailvasan 10, Trailvasan 30, Ultravasan 45, Ultravasan 90 and the two relay races Vasakvartetten and Vasastafetten were on the programme this year.

For 2023 there will be fewer races to keep track of as Vasakvartetten’s two competition classes won’t take place and the leisure class is combined with Vasastafetten. So it will still be possible for a team of five to run Vasastafetten in the leisure class, where teams can consist of anywhere from two to ten runners – but the name Vasakvartetten will disappear. For the two Vasastafetten competition classes, the women’s and men’s classes, your team still needs ten participants.
”With changes in Vasastafetten, we see it as a natural development to make our five-person relay part of the open leisure class where teams decide themselves how many runners take on the 90 km distance,” says Tommy Höglund.

Finally, a piece of news about registration itself: Normally registration opens on Sundays but this year’s registration opens on Saturday morning, September 24, at 09:00 on Vasaloppet’s website.
