Participants give Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2022 very high ratings
After each event in the Vasaloppet Arena, Upplevelseinstitutet, an independent experience analysis company, conducts a comprehensive participant survey for Vasaloppet. This year, Vasaloppet's Winter Week could finally be held more or less like a normal year again, which participants described with words like "wonderful" and "long-awaited". Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2022 consistently received very strong ratings in the survey. For those who want to participate next year, there are start places still available in, for example, Vasaloppet on March 5, 2023.
Yes, the Winter Week with its twelve different races were finally back in the Vasaloppet Arena this past winter. The weather gods showed their approval by providing glorious winter weather and fantastic conditions. In many ways, the one-year pandemic break felt like a short parenthesis for this historic Winter Week – which focused on Vasaloppet’s 100th anniversary.
”One of the most inspiring things about working with Vasaloppet is that we, together with our participants, evaluate the events and work together to develop the experience year to year. The participant survey is an important tool for us to be able to build even stronger experiences on location in the area,” says Johan Eriksson, Vasaloppet’s CEO.
Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2022 consistently received very strong ratings in this year’s participant survey. The compiled overall rating was 4.6. A large number of parameters are examined and they were all in the range of 3.9–4.7. This year’s Winter Week thereby performed very well compared to previous years.
Since Upplevelseinstitutet conducts many event surveys for different organizers, it has a large basis for comparison. A broader analysis clearly shows that Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2022 was above the experience index in most areas. The areas where Vasaloppet was comparatively strongest were ”arrangement & organization” and ”overall impression”.
When participants were asked to spontaneously state which words best described how they saw Vasaloppet, the Upplevelseinstitutet survey painted a very positive picture. The words that topped the list were ”joy”, ”tradition”, ”challenge”, ”folk festival” and ”well organized”.
When asked to describe Vasaloppet’s value, ”joyful” and ”quality aspects” topped the list of associations. In assisted associations, ”traditional” received the highest level of agreement with 4.7 on a five-point scale, followed by ”challenge” (4.6) and ”inspiring” (4.5). The ”traditional” and ”inspiring” rating thereby increased slightly compared to 2020.
When participants were asked to rate their own performance/results in their ski race in 2022, they gave themselves a rating of 4.0 – meaning ”quite good”.
Facts about the survey
The purpose of the survey is, among other things, to measure the experience of participating in Vasaloppet Winter Week. 2,528 complete interviews were conducted via an online survey during the period of March 10–22, 2022. The data was weighed against the actual number of participants who came to the start to get a weighted total value for the entire Winter Week. 5 is the highest rating (very good) and 1 is the lowest rating (very bad).
Vasaloppet uses the results of the participant survey for various parameters in their work with future events.
