Registration is open for Blåbärsloppet (formerly Öppet Spår 9 km)
Are you eager to try cross-country skiing for the first time? Then Blåbärsloppet on Saturday, March 4, is perfect for you. This race is less about competition and more about daring to try. Welcome with your registration!
Last year’s success, Öppet Spår 9 km, where many novice skiers made their way between Eldris and Mora to finish under the classic portal, changes its name to Blåbärsloppet this year. In total there are 750 start places and registration is free, as are buses to the start. There is also equipment available to borrow for about fifty participants, which you can book when registering.
”Blåbärsloppet is aimed primarily at those who do not usually participate in our races. It could be newcomers to Mora from other parts of Sweden and the world, where they might not have a skiing habit or tradition,” says Tommy Höglund, Vasaloppet’s Sport Manager.
Blåbärsloppet runs on the last 9 kilometres of the Vasaloppet course, from the checkpoint in Eldris to the finish line in Mora. Along the track there will be ski guides providing running advice and support for inexperienced skiers. Of course participants will have number bibs and there is a checkpoint where blueberry soup is distributed.
”We do not record times and there is no pressure or stress, but at the same time we have included important race aspects like a medal upon finishing. Everyone who reaches the finish line in Mora should feel like a winner,” says Tommy Höglund.
One welcome addition this year is that Folksam is hosting Blåbärsloppet.
”We commit to the things our customers care about and, as the athletic insurance company, we want to help provide more people with atheltic opportunities. Blåbärsloppet is a perfect chance to discover the joy of skiing for those who do not have the experience,” says Madeleine Hasselwander, Account Manager at Folksam Idrott
