Trailvasan 10 start postponed today due to severe weather

15 August 2025

A rainstorm with thunder and strong gusts of wind is expected to pass over Mora around 6:00 PM on Friday, August 15. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow warning for heavy thunderstorms and brief but very strong wind gusts, in some areas reaching storm strength. As a result, the start of Trailvasan 10 will be moved from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM.

“We are closely monitoring the weather conditions together with our Vasaloppet meteorologist, Pia Hultgren. Safety always comes first, and we are committed to providing every participant with a great experience on the course,” says Tommy Höglund, Vasaloppet’s Sports Director.

More than 400 runners are registered for Trailvasan 10, and to give everyone the best conditions to prepare during the afternoon, Vasaloppet has already made the decision to postpone the start. The finish area in Mora will remain open so that all participants have time to complete the race.

“We are prepared for it to get a little dark toward the end and will support all participants—regardless of pace—all the way to the finish line,” says Tommy Höglund.

Information for participants and spectators will be communicated via SMS, email, information screens, announcers, vasaloppet.se, and Vasaloppet’s social media channels.
