Vasaloppet increasingly international – record number of foreign participants in 2015
Vasaloppet's Winter Week February 27 – March 8 2015 will be a ski festival on par with a world championship. 7,615 foreign skiers from 51 nations, and all continents, are registered for the Winter Week! That is a record number of international participants.
When online registration closed on Thursday night, a total of 66,752 participants had registered. Of these, about eleven percent are international. On Wednesday February 25 we open direct registration for the races that still have start places available: KortVasan (30 km), HalvVasan (45 km) and UngdomsVasan. The number of participants can, in other words, go up somewhat.
The trend is that an increasing number of people want to take part in longer races: Of the registered participants 33,800 (more than half) have registered for the whole 90 kilometre stretch from Sälen to Mora – either in Vasaloppet or in Öppet Spår.
The below overview shows how many registered participants there are, so far, from the 15 nations with the most participants (apart from Sweden).
