Vasaloppet winners to receive new victory trophy from Kosta Boda

20 January 2026

Starting with Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2026, Kosta Boda will be the supplier of trophies for Vasaloppet, Tjejvasan, Cykelvasan 90, and Ultravasan 90. All trophies are produced at the Kosta Glasbruk glassworks in Småland by Kosta Boda’s glassblowers and craftsmen.

This collaboration between Kosta Boda and Vasaloppet brings together two strong Swedish traditions. The furnaces at Kosta Glasbruk have been lit since 1742, and the first Vasaloppet was held in 1922.

“Being entrusted with creating trophies for several Vasaloppet races is an honour that unites generations of Småland glass craftsmanship with one of Sweden’s most historic sporting traditions. Each trophy is created with care, skill, and respect for the traditions that define both Kosta Boda and Vasaloppet. Through this collaboration, we meet future winners and allow the trophies to become lasting memories of achievement, endurance, and Swedish culture,” says Isabella Jansson, CEO of Orrefors Kosta Boda AB.

The design of the new trophy draws inspiration from the tradition of the victory wreath presented immediately at the finish by the Vasaloppet Kranskulla and Kransmas. The top part depicts the famous wreath itself and is painted green. The trophy as a whole is cast in a graphite mould; the design inside the wreath is sandblasted and filled with gold colour. The stem is matte on the back, creating the impression of being covered in snow and ice. The base is made of porphyry, and the front shows Vasaloppet’s well-known motto, “I fäders spår för framtids segrar” (“In forefathers’ tracks for future victories”), sandblasted and filled with traditional Falun red paint. The victory trophy is 33.5 centimetres tall and weighs 3 kilograms.

The new trophies will be awarded for the first time during the Winter Week 2026 to the winner of the 38th Tjejvasan on Saturday, February 21, and to the women’s and men’s winners of the 102nd Vasaloppet on Sunday, March 1.

“It feels fantastic to welcome the historic Kosta Boda as manufacturers of Vasaloppet’s new trophies for several of our events across skiing, cycling, and running. Kosta Boda’s unique craftsmanship and genuine tradition are a perfect fit for Vasaloppet, and the trophies will be a beautiful symbol that lives on long after the participants have crossed the finish line. We are proud to highlight Swedish craftsmanship of the highest class and look forward to making these trophies part of Vasaloppet’s history for many years to come,” says Johan Eriksson, CEO of Vasaloppet.
