Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2018 – over 35,000 registered in one hour
When registration opened for Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2018 on Sunday morning at 09:00, over 35,000 people had registered for a Winter Week race after only one hour. Vasaloppet and Nattvasan were fully booked after hardly 5 and 7 minutes respectively. "Registering for a race gives you a clear training goal, which appeals to many," says Eva-Lena Frick, Vasaloppet's CEO.
Vasaloppet’s vision is to inspire healthy living and give people an opportunity to experience the Vasaloppet Arena. Two weeks ago, over 65,000 participants were registered to ski a Vasaloppet Winter Week 2017 race. Mostly good weather, fine track conditions and the success of the new race, Nattvasan, seems to have inspired many and when registration for the Winter Week 2018 opened, they were quick on the keys. After only an hour, over 35,000 people had chosen to get a clear goal for their training this coming year, which, after such a short time, is more than ever before.
”It’s great to see a continuing strong exercise trend and interest in cross-country skiing. People still have a great need to set goals with their training and Vasaloppet develops accordingly, always trying to create relevant offers for those seeking new experiences and greater challenges,” says Eva-Lena Frick.
Already during the past week, participants included in Vasaloppet’s loyalty program, which was used this year for the third time, were able to register for Vasaloppet 2018. The two races currently fully booked are Vasaloppet and Nattvasan. The latter was expanded for 2018 to almost double the amount of start places.
In all other races, Kortvasan, Tjejvasan, Öppet Spår Sunday and Monday, Halvvasan and Stafettvasan, there are still places remaining. Registration for Blåbärsloppet and Ungdomsvasan 2018 will open at a later date.
There are also already over 19,000 people registered for a race during Vasaloppet’s Summer Week 2017 and there are still places available in all summer races.
