Welcome to Vasastafetten

Your running event begins in Berga by in Sälen. Start envelopes with start numbers and information letters are sent to the team leader approximately two weeks before the event. The timing chip is picked up on race day at the Vasaloppet start, Sälen. Teams that have not received start envelopes sent to the team leader pick these up at the race office in Mora in the days before the event, or on race day at the Vasaloppet start in Sälen.

The registration fee includes bus transport for participants on legs 1 and 2. Bus tickets to the start for leg 1 must be booked. Please note that runners on leg 2 must take the organizer’s bus to Smågan. From pickup of leg 2 in Mångsbodarna to handover of leg 10 in Eldris, the team handles its own transport.

Teams are responsible for transport of change clothes and outer garments. A tip is to give your outer garments to the person you’re handing over to!

The start goes jointly at 08.00. The start corrals open at 07.30 and whoever runs the first leg should be in place in the corral no later than 07.55.

At the handovers, the timing chip functions as a relay baton. It’s worn as a band around the wrist and handed over to the participant on the next leg at the handover checkpoints.

During the nine Swedish miles on historic Vasaloppsmark, the team passes a total of seven checkpoints where you can refuel with drinks and energy. In addition, there are fluids, sports drinks and water approximately every five kilometers. Toilets and medical personnel are available at all checkpoints.

Several events take place simultaneously and when elite runners and recreational runners run side by side, good cooperation between runners is important. The basic rule is: Keep right, pass on the left.

When the runner on the final leg glimpses the church tower in Mora, the home stretch is approaching! Then it’s time for the rest of the team to gather so you can celebrate together at the finish and receive your well-earned medals. When you’re ready, simply take the free bus to the showers at Prästholmens IP. After that, you can return to the finish and pick up your diplomas and continue celebrating with all the other runners.

Every finish is a victory. We’ll see you on the course!

More information about the race

All our participants must wear a start number and a timing chip.

A letter with start numbers is sent to the team leader approximately 2 weeks before the race. Data chips are collected by all teams on the morning of the competition at the Vasaloppet start in Berga by, Sälen. One timing chip per team. Note that data chips will not be mailed to you!

Teams who haven’t received their start envelope with start numbers sent to their team leader can collect these at Race Office in Mora in the days before the race or on the morning of the competition in Berga by, Sälen.

Our opening hours

Joint start in Sälen at 08:00. The start pens open at 07:30. You must be in place at your start group no later than 07:55.

The exchanges at the checkpoints

The timing chip works as a relay baton; the chip is worn as a bracelet and handed over at the exchange checkpoints. Leave the exchange area quickly after making the exchange. Only forewarned teams may enter the exchange area.

In connection with Vasastafetten’s exchanges there are two pens: choose the pen marked for Vasastafetten.

Those who run several sections in a row must choose the pen marked Ultravasan and Trailvasan when passing exchange checkpoints.

There are refreshment stations at the start, finish and at every exchange checkpoint, as well as every fifth kilometre along the course. Specifics on what is served can be found on the detailed race map.
There are toilets at all exchange checkpoints, as well as at the start and finish.
There are medical services at the exchange checkpoints in Smågan, Mångsbodarna, Risberg, Evertsberg, Oxberg, Hökberg and Eldris, as well as at the start and finish.

Due to security reasons and time constraints there is a time restriction at exchange checkpoint Evertsberg.
There will be a joint restart for teams who have not then completed their exchange, after approval by the checkpoint managers. Time will be announced by the speaker.

For the same reasons a joint restart can also be called at other exchange checkpoints. After restarting, the team continues as participants in the competition and will get a total result.

The course surface consists of everything from asphalt, gravel roads to smaller trails. Some technical sections exist primarily in the beginning of the course. The terrain is moderately hilly during the first half of the course, and flat for the final 19 kilometers.

The course is marked with orange ribbons and red arrow signs. The ribbons are placed so that you can always see the next one.
