Welcome to Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2027 – find the race that’s right for you!

2 November 2026

There’s a whole range of fun and challenging races to choose from this winter. Go long or short, ski by day or night, use classic or freestyle technique, solo or in a group… Here is your guide to all the different races during the Winter Week.

All races finish beneath Vasaloppet’s finish portal by the belfry in Mora. There’s also Barnens Vasalopp for children aged 3–10, and Hemmavasan for those who want to take part on their home turf.

Friday, February 26: Vasaloppet 30, start Oxberg, 30 km.
Classic technique. Ages 11 and over.
The first Winter Week race is a recreational event for the whole family. It’s not unusual to see three generations skiing the race together.

Saturday, February 27: Tjejvasan, start Oxberg, 30 km.
Classic technique. Leisure class from age 11; competition class from age 17.
Tjejvasan is the world’s largest cross-country ski race exclusively for women, with both competitive categories (for senior and junior skiers) and a recreational category. Tjejvasan is broadcast live by Sveriges Television every year, and the atmosphere along the course is electric, with live music and fun activities all the way.

Sunday, February 28: Öppet Spår Sunday, start Sälen, 90 km.
Classic technique. Ages 17 and over.
Anyone who wants to ski the world’s biggest long-distance ski race from Sälen to Mora without the competitive element should choose one of the Öppet Spår days. Försvarsmaktsvasan also takes place on this day, with Swedish defence personnel skiing their own Vasaloppet from Sälen to Mora. They start ten minutes before the first start group in Öppet Spår Sunday.

Sunday, February 28: Vasaloppet Pro Race 30, start Oxberg, 30 km.
Classic technique. Elite race, ages 17 and over.
Like Tjejvasan 2027, the new Vasaloppet Pro Race 30 2027 is part of the Ski Classics World Championship. Women compete in Tjejvasan on Saturday, while men race in Vasaloppet Pro Race 30 on Sunday.

Sunday, February 28: Ungdomsvasan, start Eldris, 9 km, start Hökberg, 19 km.
Classic technique. Ages 11 and over.
Ungdomsvasan is a celebration of Swedish skiing, just like Vasaloppet. All young people are welcome to take part, whether they represent a ski club or not. There are three age categories for both boys and girls. Those aged 11–12 and 13–14 ski 9 km, while those aged 15–16 ski 19 km.

Monday, March 1: Öppet Spår Monday 90, start Sälen, 90 km.
Freestyle. Ages 17 and over.
Öppet Spår Monday 45, start Oxberg, 45 km.
Freestyle. Ages 13 and over.
Öppet Spår Monday 30, start Oxberg, 30 km.
Freestyle. Ages 11 and over.
Since 2022 Öppet Spår Monday is freestyle, which means that both skate and classic style are allowed, unlike Öppet Spår Sunday where you can only ski classic style. For Monday, the Vasaloppet Arena is prepared with both a skate surface and ski tracks. From 2027, Öppet Spår Monday 45 and Öppet Spår Monday 30 will share a joint start at the start area in Oxberg. Those skiing 45 km will loop around the beautiful Oxberg lake before joining the Vasaloppet course.

Tuesday, March 2: Vasaloppet 45, start Oxberg, 45 km.
Classic technique. Ages 13 and over.
Vasaloppet 45 means skiing half the full-length Vasaloppet. Like the other 45 km races, it kicks off at the start area in Oxberg and loops around the beautiful Oxberg lake before bringing you back onto the Vasaloppet course.

Friday, March 5: Stafettvasan, relay race, start Sälen, 90 km.
Classic technique. Ages 11 and over.

Stafettvasan is the world’s largest ski relay – with teams from clubs, companies, families and friends sharing the classic route from Sälen to Mora. The sections for the five team members are 24 km, 24 km, 14 km, 9 km and 19 km. Exchanges take place in Mångsbodarna, Evertsberg, Oxberg and Hökberg. Team members are permitted to take on more than one section per person. Meet your teammates at the finish line and celebrate together.

Friday, March 5: Nattvasan 30, start Oxberg, 30 km.
Freestyle. Ages 11 and over.

Nattvasan 45, start Oxberg, 45 km.
Freestyle Ages 13 and over.
Nattvasan 90, start Sälen, 90 km.
Freestyle. Ages 17 and over.
Nattvasan has been described as a magical race. During the day, 90 kilometres is a challenge. At night, it becomes an adventure. The moment you leave the start in Berga by at 20:00, darkness and silence descend around you. Stars and headlamps light the way to the finish line in Mora, which is open until 08:00 the next morning. Nattvasan can be skied individually or in pairs – or, of course, in larger groups. From 2027, Nattvasan 30 and Nattvasan 45 will share a joint start at the start area in Oxberg. Their routes are identical to Vasaloppet 30 and Vasaloppet 45, with one big difference: it is dark when the race starts in Oxberg at 19:00, and every participant wears a headlamp. An adventure beneath the stars awaits, with the journey to Mora illuminated by torches and bonfires.

Saturday, March 6: Vasaloppet 10, start Eldris, 9 km.
Freestyle. Ages 8 and over.
This race is all about trying out cross-country skiing. It gives you the chance to ski on the Vasaloppet course and finish beneath Vasaloppet’s iconic finish line portal. The race’s subtitle is “On skis through the ages”, and many participants dress up in vintage clothes and use older equipment as a tribute to Vasaloppet’s more than 100-year history. Dressing up is, of course, entirely optional.

Sunday, March 7: The 103rd Vasaloppet, start Sälen, 90 km.
Classic technique. Ages 17 and over.
Vasaloppet is the world’s biggest long-distance ski race. A fantastic sporting tradition, a ski festival, and a true test of strength. Elite and recreational athletes ski together and the journey takes the 15,800 participants from the start in Berga by in Sälen at 08:00, through the seven classic Vasaloppet checkpoints of Smågan, Mångsbodarna, Risberg, Evertsberg, Oxberg, Hökberg and Eldris, before the race is decided, often on the final stretch in Mora. Millions of television viewers in several countries follow the race every year. Remember: every finish is a victory!
